Terms of Use
Provisional draft, version of Monday, September 28, 2026. The name of the operator, the contact address and the postal address on this page are provisional. The parts marked “to be completed” are not decided yet.
Who we are
A Century Late is published by A Century Late company (provisional name). Contact: [email protected] (provisional address). Postal address: [to be given] (provisional).
What the site is
Each day, A Century Late publishes the American newspaper of exactly one hundred years before. The site is in a test phase: editions and pages may change.
The texts of the period are reproduced as they were printed, with the scanned page beside them. They reflect the language, the attitudes and the errors of their time; we publish them as historical documents. How we choose, reproduce and add context is set out in our editorial policy and on How we work.
The summaries, the context and the other texts we add are written with automated assistance, from the original text and the cited sources, as How we work explains.
Errors
The texts are read from scans of old newspapers and may contain reading errors. If you find one, write to us. An error that the scan confirms is corrected on the page, with a dated note, as the editorial policy says.
Rights in the material
Some texts come from collections that others share under a licence; the Credits page names them and gives the credit their licence asks for.
The texts we write, the design of the site and its nameplate belong to the operator. What reuse of them we allow is to be completed.
The newsletter
The newsletter is free. You can unsubscribe at any time by writing to [email protected] (provisional address). What we keep about you is in the Privacy Policy. Today no newsletter is sent.
YouTube API Services
The tool with which we publish our own videos on YouTube uses YouTube API Services. By using that tool, its users agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service, https://www.youtube.com/t/terms. Today only the operator uses it, and it publishes nothing yet.
Children
A Century Late is a publication for a general audience. It is not directed to children under 13.
Copyright
We host no material posted by readers. To tell us about a copyright concern, write to [email protected] (provisional address).
Liability and applicable law
To be completed, with a lawyer.
